VW Bus Giveaway Ends Tonight

Sabrina and Jimmy will soon be selecting a winner for their VW Bus Giveaway. The winner will be announced on their Instagram on January 20th at 7 PM PST. The free entry by mail option is gone now, since it relies on the mail, but you can still enter by buying WANDXR Post Cards.

I don’t know how many people are buying their postcards to enter, but if you’re wondering how a young couple can afford to give away their van in a promotion, watch the VICE News video below.

It gives us a peek into the world of influencer marketing and how big brands pay people with popular YouTube and Instagram profiles big money to help promote their products. For some people this might seem wrong, for others this will sound like a great way to help finance their own #vanlife.

I don’t know what’s next for Sabrina and Jimmy, but I wish them all the best and hope their iconic VW Bus finds a great new home.

Jesse’s Affordable & Whimsical Tiny House

Bryce Langston visits Jesse and tours his affordable tiny house made from mostly reclaimed materials. After living in a van for over two years he had an opportunity to build his own tiny house. It’s totally off grid with plenty of solar power. It has an indoor shower but no toilet. Instead he chose to setup a composting toilet outside the house. The woodwork is incredible and mostly made from reclaimed fence boards.

Final VW Bus Clean-Up Before Giveaway

Sabrina and Jimmy spend several stressful days cleaning the WANDXR Bus before the giveaway. After spending so much time together in a tiny VW Bus, it must be super hard to expel so much energy cleaning it just so you can give it away to someone else.

I Totally Want to Win This VW Bus

The very first car I remember my parents owning was a red Volkswagen Westfalia Camper. We lived in San Francisco and San Rafael during that time and I’ve got a lot of fond memories of that van. On weekends we’d go camping up and down the California coast and I can even remember sitting on my dad’s lap turning the wheel. You might say it was the first car I ever drove. I wish I had a photo to show you, but those have been lost in time.

One memorable trip was making the final trip on our move to San Rafael from San Francisco. My dad loaded up the camper with everything including a fish tank and we’d just crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and had almost made it up the Waldo Grade when the engine blew. My brothers and I got our first tow truck ride that day. I know the fish survived, but I can’t remember how they got to our new home. It was 1971.

I live near Sacramento now and my own kids are 12 and 9. I’d love to give them adventures in an old camper like that – well maybe not quite like that one, but you never know right? My kids are pretty used to the comfortable luxury of modern cars – so a little spoiled. I’ve probably gotten a bit spoiled too, but I’ve not lost my taste for a little adventure.

I think if I won WANDXR Sabrina and Jimmy’s VW Bus I’d be able to continue the adventure that bus has had with my family. I’d totally want to blog our adventures up and down the California Coast and our adventures into California’s Gold Country.  We’d get to live a part-time family-style vanlife like the one I remember my dad gave us. Might toughen my kids up a bit too and give them great childhood memories.

The giveaway ends on January 18, 2019 AT 7.00 PM PST. So there’s still a little time to enter this VW Bus Giveaway. You can choose to enter two different ways.

  • Free Entry – send a postcard mailed to Sabrina and Jimmy. For details on this option just follow the instructions you find in section 3 of their Terms and Conditions page. You can enter only once by mail.
  • Buy WANDXR Post Cards – You can enter as many times as you like this way, but it’s a paid entry per postcard. When you buy their postcards you’re helping to support their continued travel vlog. They also give back to the environment, animals, and humanitarian causes with every purchase.

If I win my first adventure will be bringing it home to Sacramento from Los Angeles. I don’t plan to take the normal route either, and will vlog the adventure.

My fingers are crossed. Good luck on your entry!

Sabrina and Jimmy’s 1973 VW Bus & Giveaway

Sabrina and Jimmy Horel left their careers to pursue their passions of photography and video. They bought a 1973 Volkswagen Bus for travel and to live a simple nomadic lifestyle. Their travels are changing now and it’s time to pass their beloved VW Bus onto someone new.

Instead of selling it, they are running a giveaway. You can enter by buying a postcard from them or mail-in a handwritten postcard of your own. See section of 3 of their terms of use to learn how to mail-in a free entry. Visit the WANDXR website to buy postcards and be entered automatically in the giveaway.

Below are many photos of the bus. After they bought it they did some restoration work, which you can read about on their blog. As you can see, they’ve kept it in great shape while using it to it’s fullest. You can read all about the adventures they had with this VW Bus at WANDXR.co. If you want to see even more, visit the Wandxr Bus YouTube Channel.

How to Install an Exterior Door

Matt Risinger doesn’t build tiny houses but he has years of construction experience and an amazing YouTube Channel where he explains in detail how to do all sorts of construction jobs.

In this video he demonstrates a door install kit. I don’t know anything about the kit, but the video sums up all you need to know about installing an exterior door. The kit includes everything you need to install a door including detailed instructions. His wall mockup is also tiny house sized – perfect for our tiny minds.
