Portland’s Caravan is First Tiny House Hotel in USA

Tiny houses have found homes as hotel rooms at Caravan Tiny House Hotel, which celebrated its grand opening in the Alberta Arts District, a neighborhood in northeast Portland, Oregon, on July 27, 2013. Owners Deb Delman and Kol Peterson say that one of the goals of Caravan is to showcase the tiny home lifestyle.

  1. Do you have any ideas/suggestions about how to purchase/rent a tiny piece of property where I could live in my tiny house on wheels?

    1. Where are you located Kale-try the RV parks, State of texas park pass(less than 100. year), river road area of new braunfels, texas in winter season(after labor day)-they need the business.

    2. Drive the rural roads in your area and watch the side of the road for small lots carved out of big farms and ranches. We’ve got several in our immediate area that have been abandoned and a couple even for sale.

Why do thru always have wheels? Doesn’t anyone ever build stationery ones?

    1. Tiny Houses are often put on wheels for (1) portability, and (2) not subject to the same building permit process. On wheels they are often seen as something like an RV and fall under those use ordinances.
