Round House Financed Through Crowd-Funding

A small building designed and built by students at the Illinois Institute of Technology for Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House… The costs of the project were completely fundraised by the students, through kickstarter and the help of local businesses.” –  Barnsworth Exhibition Center

This would make a fantastic tiny house – with the addition of a window or two. Read and see more of the Barnsworth Exhibition Center.

Cabin Project on Kickstarter

An ashram and farm is being built just outside New York by a group of young urban farmers. The plan is to offer workshops in the near future and they are raising money on Kickstarter to build a guest cabin for attendees. I wanted to share this because Kickstarter is a very interesting way to raise money for projects. I also want to thank one of my readers, Mark, for tipping me off to this project.

Camper Kart

Kevin, the inventor of this extreme shopping cart based tiny house concept, is looking for funding to kick start the building of the real thing. He’s trying to raise $2,000 by November 1, 2009. So far he’s got quite a few backers for his project and I suspect in a short amount of time we’ll be watching videos of the real thing.
