False Bay Writer’s Cabin

With 10′ tall glass walls on three sides, the main room is as immersed in the natural environment as a conditioned indoor space can be. The writer only has to look up to watch passing wildlife and enjoy unimpeded views of the surrounding landscape. The fourth wall has bookshelves on one side and a concealed Murphy bed on the other, with a doorway in between leading into the service area. On the left is a compact galley kitchen with a fridge and several feet of counterspace, while to the right is the bathroom with shower.” – Small House Bliss

Feeling Frozen? Chris Larson’s Deep North – Tiny Houses as Art and Commentary

As an artist, I do not profess any deep knowledge about the science of climate change, but I do have specific images that come to mind when I think about it. There is a moment in “The Inconvenient Truth”, for example, when Al Gore explains how the Gulf Stream– the conveyor belt of ocean currents that guides warm water around what would otherwise be a much colder climate, might break and could theoretically plunge Europe into a rather a rather sudden ice age.” – Chris Larson via Huffington Post

A Studio Home with a Stepped Floor Plan

Drawers and storage bins built into the floor provide enough storage to keep the 35 m2 (377 ft2) studio free of clutter. The kitchen cabinets are tucked under the bedroom level with the concrete countertop only being revealed when a section of the bedroom floor is flipped up to act as the backsplash.” – Small House Bliss

Beth’s Small Cottage in California

Beth’s small cottage is surrounded by lush gardens in the hills of Sausalito, California. Built sometime in the 1930′s, the tiny cottage has just 365 ft2 (33.9 m2), smaller than most two-car garages. Yet, it doesn’t seem that small. While the kitchen is indeed cramped, the rest of the house appears quite comfortable.” – Small House Bliss

Island House Now Available as a Prefab

With the immense popularity of the Island House in numerous publications and websites, 2by4-architects decided to develop a prefabricated version based upon it. The prefab house has the same gabled shape and (mostly) glazed end walls, however it does not have the folding wall. That was made possible by the structural steel frame of the Island House, but the prefab version uses a different structural system.” – Small House Bliss
