Could You, Would You, Try a Gypsy Caravan?
You could stay in the only 1930s steam-roller cabin I have come across while writing about hundreds of the most unique hotels in the world. There is room for two and looks darn cozy. All the cabins, caravans and converted whatnots have full kitchen facilities. Some have mains power while others remain simple and rustic.” – uniquehotels.com

Riverwood Chalet – A-Frame on the Middle Fork of the New River
Located in Blowing Rock, NC, these homes were constructed in the 70’s as a vacation rental community. Development ended after seven were built, and henceforth known as the Roaring River Chalets, these classic A-Frames sit along the Middle Fork of the New River. Converted to a Planned Urban Development in 2011, units have been renovated and each sold to private owners. We purchased our end unit in February, 2012 as a second home – fulfilling a longtime dream for a mountain retreat.” – Riverwood Chalet

A Matched Pair of Cozy Stone Cottages
Defining the border between Devon and Cornwall, the River Tamar flows through lands that were once part of a vast estate owned by the Duke of Bedford. Perched above the river are two near-identical cottages built in the mid-19th century to house families of workers employed by the estate. Though both were completely derelict when purchased by the current owners, they saw the potential to use the cottages for vacation rentals. Local craftsmen rebuilt the original stone walls, installed new slate roofs, and created modern living spaces inside. The reborn cottages were named Little Gillyflower and Little Otterling.” – Small House Bliss
