Anyone familiar with Ontario Canada ‘s rules and regulations?

We are in Shelbune ontario and looking at the tiny house as a viable housing option. Just have no idea where to start
I’m pretty sure you have to be on wheels. Ontario has some pretty exacting zoning regs. There are a bunch of tiny houses up that way, as Tiffany said, but I know that they are much more demanding in codes than most of the states.

It’s also important to note that the tiny house movement itself doesn’t seem at all to be an exclusive club. In fact for years it’s felt open and diverse. So I personally welcome anyone to jump into the idea of extreme downsizing with both feet – no matter who you know – or don’t.

Very interesting concept, and I have been watching the show. If part of the concept is to be more sustainable, why aren’t more passive solar systems used – I just saw the episode in Vermont, and with nearly 500 sq. ft. there was NO comfortable furniture – and there could have been – and the polished concrete floor is going to be miserable and hard to heat in a Vermont winter. Missed opportunity to use passive solar and in-floor hot water radiant heat . . . .
I’m a big fan of downsizing and Tiny homes in general. However, I have to question the validity of some small tiny homes that some folks seem to think are so mobile. Just because you can drive it all over do you think you should? What about the fuel wasted dragging around 10-15K pounds? What about the safety factor of pulling a trailer when you have no experience? I say build a small house and park it some where long term, or just go buy a small trailer and work your way up. Do the math on the money spent to build one on wheels, the vehicle needed, the wear and tear on said vehicle and the wear and tear on the tiny house itself. Let’s get a little real H. and Angela. Please! A full bathtub and a full size kitchen??? Somebody please get her a tape measure. I think you’re missing the point of a Tiny house.
Most folks don’t move them. It’s not an RV.
As far as doing the green offset math be sure to factor in the energy savings and the huge amounts of electricity and gas required by normal homes. I think the tiny house wins every time.
