I really love the ingenuity of this simple rolling homeless shelter designed by Paul Elkins. Paul has an amazing mind for coming up with incredible solutions for tiny mobile spaces and I highly recommend that you spend some time exploring his blog after checking out this latest homeless shelter concept.

Shed Plays Role in Saving Lives
Here’s a great story about a shed serving as an intermediate care unit for homeless in Clapham, London. It was setup by nurse practitioner Samantha Dorney-Smith. The services they are providing are already saving lives and reducing emergency calls and hospitalizations.

1937 Ford Housecar
This little truck is not a custom job but a factory built 1937 Ford. Although it might as well be a custom job because only 6 were built in 1937 at the Ford plant in St. Paul, Minnesota. Really amazing to see an early motorhome in such amazing condition. It’s also great inspiration for dreaming up classic truck based tiny houses.

Garden Office Kit
I really wish more American companies would jump in on the tiny house (garden office) bandwagon. There are so many great designs for modern manufactured tiny buildings coming out of the UK, like this one from Garenberg. To top it all off this beautiful little building comes as a kit the owner-builder assembles themselves.

Arctic Pod
This tiny structure by 2 B 2 Architecture is designed to house researchers in remote arctic regions. It’s designed to fold-up for transport and provides living and working space. This is definitely not the kind of do-it-yourself project I like to focus on but it’s always curious to look at solutions like this for inspiration.

Tiny Chapel
This tiny chapel is about 180 square feet and is located in Kolbermoor, Germany. I really like how the simple space and structure and how natural light enters the building. This is also an architect designed structure (by Kunze Seeholzer Architektur & Stadtplanung) but has many qualities that could inspire.

Fold-Up Table
This is an extremely simple idea done very well. It’s a fold-up table with flip out table legs that doubles as a picture frame. I can totally see how a set of fold-up benches could expand the functionality while not taking up any extra space.

Bill’s Tiny House
Bill is building a tiny house based on one of my tiny house designs. You can download the free house plans at Tiny House Design. He’s building the 8×16 Solar House.
He posted a bunch of photos of the interior work recently on Facebook and it’s looking great. Eventually Bill plans to move his tiny house up to Alaska (from California) and spend some time chilling out.
