This design competition ends October 31st… and I thought I had missed the entry deadline. It looks like the competition is steep so I better pull some of my most creative ideas out if I’m going to have a chance at winning. You can enter too… the more the merrier. Read more at Shedworking.

A Guide To Buying Energy Efficient Windows
One of my favorite non-tiny house blogs is The Good Human. This article on windows was a guest post by Nan Fischer a Green Real Estate expert who lives in Taos, New Mexico. The Good Human is definitely a blog to bookmark.

Derek Diedricksen’s Vermont Cabin
I was recently contacted by a fellow named Derek Alexander Diedricksen who is in the process of writing a book called, “Humble Homes, Simple Shacks, Cozy Cottages, Ramshackle Retreats, Funky Forts, and Anything Else We Could Squeeze in Here.” It turns out that Derek is quite a scavenger-builder himself.

Sheds on Inhabitat
It’s always exciting to see the really big mainstream blogs, like Inhabitat, pick up on aspects of the small house movement. This time they posted an article on Sheds and their wide range of uses.

Tiny House Design by Joseph Sandy
Here’s a really nice little tiny house design by Joseph Sandy. I really like the opposing roof lines and how that might help direct rain water into a cistern. Nice use of interior space too and features a cantilevered loft.

Camper Kart
Kevin, the inventor of this extreme shopping cart based tiny house concept, is looking for funding to kick start the building of the real thing. He’s trying to raise $2,000 by November 1, 2009. So far he’s got quite a few backers for his project and I suspect in a short amount of time we’ll be watching videos of the real thing.

Aluminum Bliss
Aluminum Bliss is the blog of Chris and Lani, a couple that has hit the road in an 23-foot Airstream CCD trailer. Chris has a job where he can work from virtually anywhere so one day he and Lani decided that selling the majority of their possessions and hitting the road was a good idea. You can follow their travels at Aluminum Bliss.

Funky Houseboats
If you’re familiar with the San Francisco Bay Area you might be aware that the posh bay-side town of Sausalito is the home of several houseboat communities.
Most of the floating homes in this exclusive zip code will set you back six or seven figures but there are still pockets of free spirits at the Gates Co-Op Houseboat Community. In this little community floating out on Richardson Bay you’ll find a collection of funky hand built tiny floating homes.
