  • Tiny Solar House

Bill Brooks is making great progress on his tiny solar house built from the free house plans I offer on Tiny House Design. It’s especially exciting for me to see one of my designs come together. When Bill is done with this house he plans to take it on an extended trip up to Alaska. Follow Bill on Twitter

  • Bug Out Vehicle Becomes Art

Here’s a great house truck commissioned by The Creative Foundation for Tales of Time and Space and built by Roger Beck. It’s based on a former army Bedford Green Goddess fire truck. Roger Back is a well known house truck builder in the US and author of Some Turtles Have Nice Shells.

  • Tiny House for Rent in Washington DC

If you’re looking for a place to rent in the Washington DC area you might want to check out this tiny house. The interior space is 252 square feet and will be available starting November 1st.

I really wonder why more landlords haven’t jumped on the tiny house bandwagon. It seems like there would be a high demand for small studio apartment sized individual homes.

  • Drop In Haus

This is an amazing (and bizarre) idea. It’s a complete house that is dropped inside a much older ruin of a house. Instead of renovating the old home just slip a new tiny home inside and voila you have a new home with the flavor of an old dilapidated one. All kidding aside, this is really cool and worth some time exploring.

  • Tiny Hotel in Germany

Here’s an interesting idea for some simple lodging. It’s a tiny room for rent in Germany that’s not much bigger than a bed. For the frugal traveler this might be just the right fit.

  • French Cube is coming to North America

This is a great little vacation rental concept out of France that will soon be available in the US and Canada. It’s a self contained tiny house that can be transported to it’s final site in one piece and setup with just a little effort.

  • Hidden Creek Farm

Dayle and Jeff continue to make good progress on their tiny shed at the Hidden Creek Farm. I’m sure as the weather begins to turn these folks are increasingly anxious to have their little place all buttoned up.

  • Bunker Eco Hostels

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and have some very fond memories exploring the old bunkers on the Marin and San Francisco sides of the Golden Gate Bridge. Today many of them are welded shut but when I was a kid they were still open and fun (and dangerous) to explore. I often imagined what it would be like to convert these concrete structures into homes and little villages.

So when I saw this article on Inhabitat describing how someone is putting together a proposal for reusing these old bunkers in Albania I knew I had to share it with you.

  • Urban Rancher – 4 Walls and Roof Framing

The Urban Rancher is making excellent progress on his tiny house and it’s still early enough in the process to see how everything is going to go together. Over the Columbus Day weekend he put up his first two framed walls. He then moved onto the other two walls and now has roof rafters in place.
