  • Southern Highlands House

The design is for a new home-office pavilion alongside two existing pavilions on a remote rural property three hours drive south of Sydney. The new building is part of a set of three free standing pavilions that each contain the functions of sleeping, living and working a configuration reflecting a harmonious life-cycle balance that is interwoven into its natural environment.” – ArchDaily.

  • Rob’s Studio Trucks in Australia

My mission is to: produce and sell “green”, small, delightful, affordable, portable living spaces. I also call them green grannies or environmental granny flats and build them with natural materials instead of the aluminum and foam sandwich panel containers that currently exist.” – Rob at Studio Trucks

  • “Gypsy” Vans by Roth

Wally and Victoria Roth of Bend, Oregon have experience in building exquisite carousel horses, cabinets, boat building and yacht restoration, but their designs really come to life in their re-creations of their Romani “Gypsy” Caravans. Their goal for the custom design is to come as close as possible to the original look and feel of the caravans that can still be found around England today. The Romani were a group of people who arrived in Europe from northern India around the 14th century. Their travels in wagons much like the Roth’s took them across the continent to Great Britain and even into North America, Brazil and Australia.” – Kent

  • The Israel House – Pittwater, Sydney, Australia

The Israel House, built for graphic designer Ken Israel, by architects Peter Stutchbury and Phoebe Pape, was built in the bushy hill country overlooking Pittwater in Sydney, Australia’s northern peninsula.  The three story house, built alongside a rocky hillside, extends far into the canopy of the surrounding trees.  The ground level houses the utilities of the house, including the bathroom and laundry facilities.  The middle floor is the main living area, which includes the kitchen, and the main entry way to the house.  From the living room, stairs lead up to the top story, which is the bedroom. ” – Forrest Damon Faulkner

  • ARKit Prefab Eco-Homes

Australian prefab maker ARKit has worked hard over the past few years to fine tune their modern homes into low-impact, eco-friendly dwellings. Choose from their F or S Series (factory or site-built) prefabricated dwellings and you can rest assured that you’re getting a carefully designed product that sits light on the earth and can even achieve zero-energy if your heart so desires.” – Inhabitat

  • Jay Shafer on the Politics of Tiny Houses

An interview from February 2011, with Jay Shafer (formerly of the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company), in his 96 square foot house-on-wheels in Sebastopol, California. Jay is one of the more well-known and successful tiny house designers, and there’s no denying the “curb appeal” of his designs. That appeal is generated by Jay’s careful attention to proportion as well as by his decisions about which elements to include in–and more precisely, what to leave out of– his designs. But as much as he enjoys talking about design, what he really wanted to talk about [.

  • Where to Park Your Tiny House …

This is a question that is on EVERYONE’s Minds even before they start their build, and rightly so, after all, why spend months of your life and $20,000-$50,000 or more to end up with a house but nowhere to put it… So the way I see it, there are Two main issues… 1) The legal issues, of where you can park legally, and can the authorities do anything, fine you etc – (this will be the topic of a future blog post / rant lol) and… 2) Finding a place to put your Tiny through various means on privately owned land (where the councils etc have even less of a hold on you) This post continues […].
